Another thumping victory in the Rancid Lager Cup, another terrific performance from Theo, and another fine goal by the ‘Great’ Dane. I settled down on the sofa for this one hoping we could carry on from Sunday’s performance, and we did. Hughton’s side were offering so little he was forced to wheel on some of his more ‘established’ players. In fact, at one point in the second half I thought I was watching Crimewatch: Alan Smith, Andy Carroll and Joey Barton. That’s not a football team, it’s a hand-picked group of condemned men – they don’t need Hughton in the dugout, they’d be better off with Lee Marvin.
I thought we looked pretty good overall. Young SZCSESNZCZCZZY did well – he made a couple of decent saves after Porn Star Carroll came on. Bendtner seemed to have a decent first touch, which has not always been the case. The defence looked fairly solid – a couple of key blocks had to be made, and they were. And as for the Magpies stereotyped villains, Barton made sure we would all remember what an ill-disciplined twat he is by going through Craig Eastmond and Cesc after the fourth goal had gone in. Still, not to worry – another clean sheet and we’re through. Let’s hope for a home draw in the next round.
